Kiosk Hardware Setup Guide

Quick Start

If your Kiosk has been pre-configured by Prospectus Plus, then getting started is quick and easy.

  1. Take the Kiosk out of the flight case
  2. Screw in the antenna
  3. Plug in the power cord

Once the device has booted, it will automatically load into your prospectus.

You will need an internet connection to use your prospectus. If you are in range of a Wi-Fi network that you have previously connected to, it will automatically reconnect. However, if you need to connect to another Wi-Fi network, see "Switching Wi-Fi Networks".

Switching Wi-Fi Networks

If you have purchased an Android device configured by Prospectus Plus and need to connect it to a new Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:

Step 1: Exit Fully Kiosk

  1. Tap the screen six times quickly.
  2. Enter your device PIN when prompted.
    1.  If you do not know the PIN, please see "What is the Kiosk PIN code?" (this article is only available to Kiosk customers, who have opted into pre-configuration).
  3. A sidebar menu will appear.
  4. Select Exit to close Fully Kiosk.

Step 2: Connect to a New Wi-Fi Network

  1. Open Device Settings.
  2. Navigate to Wi-Fi.
  3. Select the network you wish to connect to.
  4. Enter the password if required.
  • We don't recommend connecting to the Prospectus Plus mobile wifi dongle where possible. You should use this connection as a fallback option only.
  • If connecting to a public hotspot:
    • A webpage may appear requiring additional authentication.
    • If nothing appears but you suspect an additional step is required:
      •  Open Google Chrome.
      •  Visit fast.com (an internet speed test).
      •  If the speed test loads, your connection is successful.
      •  If you are redirected to a login page, complete the required steps.
      • If you receive an error, or you cannot establish a connection...
        • Where possible, seek event support staff for help connecting to the internet. If this is not available....
        • Connect to the Prospectus Plus mobile wifi dongle.
          • If you require the network password, please slide off the faceplate of the dongle and looks for a sticker that lists Model, SSID, Key, and IMEI. The value listed for "Key" is the wifi network password.

Step 3: Reopen Fully Kiosk

  • Tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen (home button).
  • Locate and tap the **Fully Kiosk** icon.
  • The Prospectus should reload automatically (if auto-load is enabled).

Using Kiosk Features in Prospectus Plus

Prospectus Plus includes built-in kiosk functionality to further control the experience.

Accessing the Configuration Page

To enable kiosk features:

Navigate to:

 /configure

For example:

https://yoursite.com/configure

Settings configured here are stored in the browser’s local storage (device-specific data saved in the browser).

If you need to remove these settings, you will need to clear the site’s local storage data via browser settings.

If You Cannot Access /configure

Some kiosk applications (including Fully Kiosk) may prevent manual URL navigation.

In this case:

  1. Attach a USB keyboard to the Android device.
  2. Press: Control + Shift + C
  3. The device will automatically redirect to the Configure page.

Optional: Enabling Kiosk Mode

On the Configure page, you can select: Enable Kiosk

When enabled:

  • Users cannot log in.
  • Prospectuses created in kiosk mode will not associate with a user account.
  • The experience is restricted to public browsing only.

This is particularly useful for:

  • Open days
  • Reception displays
  • Exhibition stands
  • Any unsupervised environment

Optional: Installing a Floating Keyboard

By default, Android ships with a keyboard that is attached to the bottom of the screen. It is possible to customise this keyboard, by installing additional keyboards. One that we recommend is Gboar (by Google) because it allows the keyboard to be "undocked" and therefore "float" anywher on screen.

To install this, you must sign into Google Play services with a Google account. Once done, you can search the Google Play Store for "Gboard" and download it for free. Follow the instructions and customise to your needs.
