How to rewrite and republish a page

Sometimes you’ll need to make substantial changes to a page without those changes appearing immediately in your live prospectus.

The Rewrite & Republish feature creates a draft copy of an existing page. You can work on this copy for as long as you need while the current page remains live and unchanged. Once your updates are ready, you can republish the draft to replace the original page.

This is particularly useful during an annual rollover, when you may need to prepare information for a new intake ahead of its launch.

Create a draft of your page

  1. Log in to the Prospectus Plus CMS.

  2. Visit the Pages, Courses or Events content areas (under 'Content').

  3. Hover over the page and select Rewrite & Republish.

Prospectus Plus will create a duplicate of the page for you to edit. A message at the top of the editor will confirm that you are working on a rewritten version of the original page.

The existing page will remain live and unchanged.

Make and save your changes

You can now update the draft as you normally would. This might include changing:

  • The page title

  • Written content

  • Images and other media

  • The overall structure of the page

Select Save Draft whenever you want to save your progress.

You can return to the draft and continue working over several days or weeks. In the page list, the working copy will be labelled as a draft created using Rewrite & Republish, helping you distinguish it from the live page.

Saving the draft does not change the page shown in your live prospectus.

Republish the page

When you are happy with your changes:

  1. Open the rewritten draft.

  2. Review the page carefully and make sure it is ready to go live.

  3. Select Republish.

  4. Confirm that you want the rewritten page to replace the current live version.

A success message will confirm that the original page has been replaced.

The rewritten version will now become the live page. You do not need to delete the original, create another page or reconnect it within the Overview Builder.

What will users see?

New prospectuses created after you republish will use the updated page title and content.

Prospectuses generated before the change will continue to display the previous version. Prospectus Plus caches the content used when a prospectus is created, preserving an accurate snapshot of the information available at that time.

If an existing user generates a brand new prospectus (using the 'start over' option), their newly generated prospectus will use the latest version of the page.

Before you republish

Republishing replaces the live version of the page. Make sure you have reviewed your changes and are ready for them to appear in newly generated prospectuses before confirming the action.
